Mother Of Child Who Was Defiled In Anambra Seeks Justice

The mother of the three-year-old-girl who was defiled by her father in Onitsha has called on the federal and Anambra state governments to assist her in ensuring that she gets justice for the baby.

The 58-year-old mother, Eucharia Okpalannadi, also raised alarm over threat to her life by her husband for exposing his alleged defilement of their three-year-old daughter in Onitsha.

People&Politics gathered that the suspected father of the child is still at large. He hails from Amesi in
Aguata Local Government Area of the state.

His wife said she had dismissed her daughter’s initial complaint of sexual abuse by her father until the baby became persistent.

The three year old daughter had complained that her daddy has been touching her private part, she said, adding that, “I initially thought it was a joke and rebuked her to stop such an expensive joke until I noticed that the child’s private part was really not in good shape.”

Mrs Okpalannadi said after after she concluded observations, she confronted her husband who denied the accusation. Not satisfied with the response from the husband, the lady took the child to a hospital in Onitsha where the doctor confirmed that the baby had been defiled.

Mrs Okpalannadi said she decided to make the matter open to attract the attention of the government and private individuals.

She said her life had been in danger since after the exposure, describing her husband “as a hard, wicked and cruel person” who would go all out to kill her and the baby because of the exposure. She said her husband had served a jail term abroad and became hardened as a motor park tout in Onitsha.

Mrs Okpalannadi said she wants him arrested and prosecuted before he would kill her and the daughter.

The state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Ify Obinabo, said the incident was a serious and sensitive issue that has to do with security, adding that the Anambra State government, under Professor Chukwuma Soludo, would not rest until the suspect was apprehended and justice served to those who deserve it.
