EndBadGovernance: Banks, Filling Stations, Shops Shut In Enugu

By Johnson Nwankwo

Banks, filling stations and most shops were under lock and key in some parts of Enugu State following the ongoing protests against government-induced hardship being faced by a majority of Nigerians.
Our correspondent visited Ogbete Main Market, and saw some of the shops locked.

According to a trader, who refused to mention her name, “Fear is the cause of the dryness of activities in the market. Many will come tomorrow. Today is the beginning, and it is usual that the beginning is being observed by many.”

A visit to Ogige Market at Nsukka showed the same scenario. Most of the shops in the popular market did not open. The only part of the market having human activities is the food stuffs unit.
Filling stations were also not serving the public when our reporter visited some parts of the state. At Nsukka, none of the filling stations along Enugu Road was seen dispensing the essential commodities when our reporter visited. This is as the number of vehicular movement was very low.
