The Sector Commander, Nasarawa Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, CC Lucie Samuel-Mhii, has re-emphasised the importance of commuter safety and the collective responsibility to uphold traffic regulations, especially during ember months.
She stated this when the Nasarawa Sector Command hosted a town-hall meeting held at the Palace of the Osuko of Obi, HRH Alhaji Aliyu Dangiwa Origi Orume, to promote commuter safety through active community and royal leadership engagement held on Friday.
According to the sector commander, the event was in line with the FRSC National Headquarters’ directive to organize community-centered activities for the 2024 Ember Months Campaign.
Quoting her, “There is the need to re-educate passengers about their rights and responsibilities aimed at ensuring safety on our roads. We encourage passengers to report reckless driving. Because of the importance attached to this, we have instructed the Station Officer for Obi to conduct additional sensitization sessions for drivers on traffic signs and regulations throughout the ember months.”
Responding, HRH Alhaji Aliyu Dangiwa Origi Orume expressed his gratitude for the initiative. He described the event as timely and essential for enhancing community safety.
The highlight of the meeting included gift presentations to HRH Alhaji Aliyu Dangiwa Origi Orume, the Osuko of Obi, in appreciation of his support for the corps’ activities.
The event featured a question-and-answer session where the attendees were engaged on road safety topics, enhancing their understanding of traffic regulations and fostering a discussion on solutions to common safety challenges.
