The Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has assured that this year’s Christmas season will be celebrated throughout the country without petroleum product shortages. The association which last week sealed a landmark purchase deal with Dangote Refinery, said it has confidence in the measures it has put in place to ensure adequate supplies of petroleum products during and after the festive season.
PETROAN which is the umbrella association of all retail outlet owners in the country says its membership of over 6,500 have put their retail outlets operators in all the states in Nigeria on green alert to ensure uninterrupted service.
The association’s National President, Dr Billy Gillis-Harry, said PETROAN had a fruitful strategic business meeting with the management of Dangote Refinery after which it sealed a landmark buyer-seller transactionary deal with the Refinery.

Gillis-Harry, who led the PETROAN negotiation team to the meeting with the management of Dangote Refinery at the complex in Lagos, declined to make public the business terms and conditions. He said, however, that his association was optimistic that the greatest beneficiaries in all shall be the general public as it concerns product availability and affordability. “PETROAN is impressed with the outcome of the strategic business meeting which was evidenced with the establishment of Seller/Buyer relationship, reservation of monthly volume for PETROAN, payment modalities and a favourable rate,” he said.
While he disclosed that the deal with Dangote Refinery was strategic and the aftermath of a successfully buyer-seller negotiation, he commended the Vice President of Dangote Group & Managing Director of Dangote Refinery, Mr. Devakumar V. G. Edwin for his cooperation. He hoped that the strategies deployed so far would make petroleum products available to all Nigerians throughout the end of year festivities and beyond.
He confirmed that, contrary to speculations in some quarter, the Port Harcourt refinery has indeed resumed production, adding that the association would leverage supplies from the refinery to service its outlets. He commended the management of NNPCL for the commencement of production, adding that
He dismissed any concerns and rumours of fuel scarcity and cautioned against panic buying as it is unsafe and dangerous to stock petroleum products at home. He also called on stakeholders in the downstream sector to support the Management of NNPC Retail Ltd and Dangote Refinery to sustain petroleum products supply.
