Prominent monarch and Olubadan of Ibadan, His Imperial Majesty Oba (Dr.) Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, Ige Olakulehin 1, has urged indigenes of Edo State residing in his domain (Ibadanland) to continue to be law-abiding.
The charge was given during a courtesy visit paid to the Olubadan at his palace located at Oke Aremo, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, South-West Nigeria, on Monday.
A statement on the visit which was made available to journalists by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Olubadan, Solomon Ayoade, on Tuesday, stated that a representative of the monarch, Senior Chief Raifu Amusa Eleruwere, the Ekefa Balogun of Ibadanland, quoted the Olubadan as appreciating Edo people for paying the courtesy visit.
He noted that there were many non-indigenes in Ibadan that were yet to visit His Imperial Majesty.
He encouraged the Edo indigenes in Ibadanland to continue with their normal businesses without fear.
Earlier in his speech, the leader of Edo indigenes living in Ibadanland, Chief Joseph Saliu, congratulated the Olubadan for ascending the ancient throne of his forefathers hale and hearty.
According to Chief Saliu, members of his delegation had stayed in Ibadan for over 40 years where they had produced business leaders and professionals such as lawyers, doctors, engineers, business tycoons, among others.
He commended the Olubadan and the monarch’s Advisory Council for allowing peaceful co-existence to reign supreme in the ancient city.
Present at the courtesy visit were Chief Ademola Odunade, the Asiwaju Olubadan of Ibadanland; Aremo Sunmbo Owolabi Olakulehin, Mr. Kolawole Balogun, and others.
