Early reaction has come to the 2025 national budget, tagged ‘Budget of Restoration, Securing Peace, Rebuilding Prosperity’ presented to the National Assembly by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday.
The budget estimates amount to N47.9 trillion.
Reacting, a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Akin Alabi, described it as a step towards national development.
In a statement issued by the lawmaker’s aide on media and publicity, Hameed Mustapha Ramadan, he expressed enthusiasm about the budget, adding that it was “reflecting the yearnings of Nigerians.”
He commended President Tinubu for presenting a people-oriented budget.
Reviewing the budget, Hon. Alabi pointed to its focus on critical areas such as infrastructure development, economic growth, and social welfare, describing it as a proper tool to address the needs of Nigerians.
He called on Nigerians to support the implementation of the budget, saying “I urge all Nigerians to join hands together to make the aims and objectives of this budget achievable. It is a collective responsibility to ensure its success.”
Furthermore, Hon. Alabi charged lawmakers to play their part in ensuring accountability and transparency to see that the budget succeeds.
“I call on my fellow Honourable Members to ensure proper oversight so that every provision of the budget is executed efficiently and transparently for the benefit of all Nigerians,” he stated.
The lawmaker restated that the budget, if well implemented, will significantly advance national development and improve standard of living across the country.
