FCTA DOAS Begins Regularization Of First Party Signages

By our reporter

Department of Outdoor Advertisement and Signage (DOAS) of Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has urged business owners in FCT to proceed to the department and register/regularize all their signage(s) within the territory.

Acting Director, DOAS, Tpl. Akanimo Udoh, who stated this in DOAS’ corporate headquarters in Jahi, Abuja, while addressing staff of the department engaged in the regularization exercise, said such signage(s) must have the name or logo of the organization to ensure compliance with the provisions of the law.

It was learned that this is pursuant to the general mandate delegating the control and regulation of outdoor advertisement and signages to the department by FCT’s six Area Councils and Federal Republic of Nigeria Official Gazette Nos. 106-111.

To this end, the department has hit the ground running to regularize first party signage(s).

Tpl. Udoh stressed that the exercise is important to the department as it will ensure that DOAS has accurate data of its first party signage(s) in FCT.

The Ag. Director said business owners have pledged their support and cooperation to the department to ensure total compliance and success of the exercise.

He directed that organizations should furnish the department with a detailed list of all their branches in FCT alongside the addresses and dimensions of the signage(s) located thereon.

According to him, the organizations are expected to comply with the directive within two weeks from the day of collection of letters issued to them during the exercise.

The Ag. Director praised FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike for his support and love for the staff of FCTA (DOAS) and urged the staff of DOAS to reciprocate the Minister’s uncommon gesture.
