It rained billions and multi-millions of Naira on Thursday, February 20, as dignitaries and businessmen liberally opened their briefcases and donated to the Ibrahim Babangida Presidential Library project.
The occasion was the launch of an autobiography by former military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, fondly called IBB.
IBB ruled Nigeria from 1985-1993.
The launch of the autobiography, titled ‘A Journey In Service’, took place at the prestigious Transcorp Hotel, Abuja, the Nigerian capital.
Present at the event were the who’s who in the nation’s business firmament,among them President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, Chairman of BUA Group, Abdulsamad Rabiu, frontline businessman, Chief Arthur Eze, and several others.
Past presidents also graced the event. They included Gen. Yakubu Gowon (1966-1975); Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (1998-1999); Olusegun Obasanjo (1999-2007); and Goodluck Jonathan (2010-2015).
When the call was made, Naira rolled out like water. For instance, Dangote and Rabiu launched the book with N8 billion and N5 billion each.
Dangote said he will donate N2billion annually for four years for the construction of the library.
While Eze doled out N500 million, Senator Sani Musa (Niger East Senatorial District), donated N250 million, Fidelity Bank leadership launched the book with N150 million.
