The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, South-West Nigeria, has won all 30 Local Government Areas (LGAs) Chairmanship and 332 Councillorship seats in the LG elections held today, Saturday, February 22, across the state.
Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) announced the results at the conclusion of voting and collation of results from polling booths.
OSSIEC Chairman, Hashim Abioye, made the announcement in a Facebook live broadcast on Saturday evening.
According to him, PDP candidates secured all the Councillorship as well as Chairmanship seats.
PeopleandPolitics.net had reported earlier in the day that State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, voted in his hometown, Ede, even as he urged residents of the state to maintain the peace and come out to vote for grassroots tier leaders of their choice.
Aside some hiccups reportedly caused by security delays which impacted the arrival of voting materials in some LGAs, the elections commenced on schedule even as turnout was commendable.
