Enugu State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Barrister Lloyd Ikechukwu Ekweremadu, has assured that the Governor Peter Mbah-led administration in the South-East Nigerian state will soon revive school sports and inter-house sports competitions do as to make sports mandatory in schools.
Commissioner Ekweremadu disclosed this on Sunday, February 23, at the inter-house sports meet of Command Day Secondary School, Abakpa Cantonment, 82 Division, Nigerian Army.
He pointed out that sport has the inherent values of encouraging fair play,respect for one another, responsibility as well as deviates the minds of young people from crime.
He commended the General Officer Commandant (GOC), 82 Division, Major General OT Olutoye, and the school authorities for partnering his Ministry to improve sports in the State and for reviving and organizing the inter-house sports competition eight years after the last one was held in the school.
