2027: Taraba APC Braces Up, Pledges To Change The Narrative

By Okerafor Athanasius, Jalingo

Apparently smarting from electoral bruises sustained in 2023, stakeholders in Taraba State chapter of the main opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) have met, with a resolution to set aside all their differences so as to boldly fight the 2027 general elections –and possibly win.

At a meeting held in Abuja, the nation’s capital, the party faithful resolved to form a formidable team aimed at challenging what they described as Governor Agbu Kefas’ bad governance in the state.

Kefas was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Nigeria’s former Ambassador to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Alhaji Ardo Jika, who hosted the meeting in his Wuye, Abuja residence, told journalists that the meeting was the most fruitful by the party since the disruptive fallouts from the party primaries in 2022.

Ambassador Jika said that the party had appeared silent in the midst of bad governance in the state because party members were aggrieved with one another.

He, however, said that with the renewed enthusiasm of stakeholders at the meeting to work as a team, the party is now strategically poised not just to have a united opposition voice, but to present the people of the state with a strong option in the coming elections.

“I can confirm to you that the APC in Taraba is finally on the right track. We held a mega meeting this evening with a national official amongst us and the outcome is quite cheering. All stakeholders have resolved to work together, to forgive one another and forget old grievances.

“As you are aware, we have our internal challenges that have plagued the party since the last primaries. Efforts have been ongoing to overcome these and move on since then, but it is today that the desired results have been achieved. All the main stakeholders were present except Senator Emmanuel Bwacha and Yusuf Ahmed,” Jika said.

Spokesman of the party in the state, Mr Aaron Artimas, told our correspondent: “This is just one meeting in a series of meetings that have been held in the aftermath of the last primaries of the party.

“It has been quite challenging bringing the people together to present a common front, but now we have been able to achieve that.”
