Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has approved the appointment of his Technical Adviser (TA), Media, Publicity, and Strategic Communication, Chief Solomon Iorpev, to oversee the activities of the State Signage and Advertising Agency as Director General (DG).
Alia charged Iorpev to effectively deliver on the mandate of the Agency which includes the management and control of outdoor advertisements and signage across the North-Central State.
He told the new DG to ensure that the state’s visual tapestry is appealing, insisting that it must uphold the highest standards of safety and aesthetics that would bequeath a responsible environment to the state.
While congratulating Iorpev, the governor encouraged him to see the new feather to his cap as a call to give more to his motherland.
Chief Iorpev has, among other qualifications, a Master’s degree in Public Relations and Advertising.
Apparently hitting the ground running, the new DG warned against indiscriminate placement of billboards and other advertising platforms within and outside city centers across the state.
The DG explained that such improper placements deface the city centers and called on the public to follow due process by obtaining permits from the state Urban Development Board before placing adverts.
Chief Iorpev appealed to those who were owing payments on signage and advertisements to pay up as enforcement would soon enter top gear.
