Forget Rumours, I’m Still In APC -Fayemi

Former governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has debunked rumours doing the rounds that he has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Recall that there were speculations on social media that the former governor and associates had decided to quit the APC over unresolved internal conflicts.

However, in a post via his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, March 11, Fayemi debunked the claim, asserting that he remained “a committed APC member.”

“My attention has been drawn to a story circulating on several online platforms regarding my defection from the All Progressives Congress.

“As I have had cause to state in the past, I am a card-carrying foundation member of the APC, and this position has not changed,” he wrote.

While acknowledging his recent advocacy for greater internal democracy and inclusivity within the ruling party, Fayemi maintained that the APC still had time to resolve its internal disputes.

“I believe it is still not too late for our party to change course and move towards greater inclusion and internal democracy,” he said.

Fayemi served the longest term of all governors of the South-West Nigerian State of Ekiti, doing two non-consecutive terms of four years from 2010 to 2014, and from 2018 to 2022.
