A group, One Benue, has canvassed for unity, progress and peace for people of Benue State , North-Central Nigeria.
The body urged residents to shun all tendencies capable of dividing them.
Addressing journalists on Wednesday, April 16, at the NUJ House in Makurdi, the state capital, Convener of One Benue, Mr. Lawrence Terseer Kyuka, noted that the aim of the organisation was to promote peace, unity and progress of Benue people.
As part of efforts towards this, Kyuka disclosed that One Benue was putting together a concert expected to start on April 18, 2025 where professionals from various areas would showcase their capacities and add value to society.
Mr. Kyuka told journalists that the organization wanted to encourage peaceful coexistence and harmonious relationship among Benue people and appealed to people of the state to embrace peace.
State Coordinator of One Benue, Mr. Romeo Nyamatsa, in his comments, said that One Benue was designed to bring about oneness in the state.
He lamented that the state was presently divided in various ways, emphasizing that it was torn along the lines of politics, ethnicity and religion, among others.
The Coordinator expressed hope that with the series of programmes lined up by his organization, Benue would move to the next level.
Also speaking, Technical Partner of One Benue, Josef Igomu who appreciated the State Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia for the enabling environment provided, noted with strong belief that the vision of One Benue would come to fruition.
