Rivers State Crisis Takes New Turn As Assembly Commences Impeachment Process Against Gov. Fubara

The Rivers State House of Assembly has commenced impeachment proceedings against Siminalayi Fubara, governor of the state. Against expectations on Monday, members of the State House of Assembly signed the impeachment notice against the governor.  24 of the 32 members of the Assembly were said to have been present during Monday’s plenary. Reports say the earlier attempt by the Governor to gain entrance into the building was rebuffed, but his supporters are said to have besieged the Assembly Complex to protest the impeachment move.
